Research

Alongside the games we were given in the brief I also researched different board and video games that deal mostly with relationships.

The gallery on the left shows some of the mood boards used for relationship simulation and also mood boards made to describe the setting.

Development

This gallery displays what the overworld map looked like throughout development. Originally we aimed to make the map look like parchment but just ended up with an eye-killing orange. A more realistic texture was tested but clashed too much with the art style of the rest of the game. Finally we settled on a similar style to the original design but with darker colours and restricted the bright red to the edges of the screen.

General Thoughts

Overall I was very pleased with how the game came together as my first producer/designer project. If I was to start over I think more focus would be placed on the relationship mechanic. Mostly how relationships effect different areas of the game. This could be done by pairing team members with good a relationship makes their moves stronger in combat. I think the social aspect sets it apart from other games in this genre.
